Introduction
This is the drill to change your step on a march. This means that if you are on the wrong leg, you switch to the correct leg. The timing is check-one
.
The uniqueness of this command
This command is unique in a sense that the short version is repeated several times after the full command. Wait, let me explain. After the full command of ‘TUKAR LANGKAH SEMASA BERJALAN, TUKAR LANGKAH’, the command is repeated as just ‘TUKAR LANGKAH’ on the next beat, and again if everyone is still not on the same leg.
Execution
Alright, enough of the dilly-dallying. Let’s get to the point. The command can be given on either leg. If it is given on the left leg, just execute it; you are marching on the correct leg. However, if it is given on the right leg, it means you are not on the correct leg.
On check
, raise your other leg to 90°. It may be more natural to take a step with your leg instead, but do not do that. Raise it instead. After that, on one
, stomp that leg down such that it is in a ‘y’ position with your other leg. So if the command is given on the left leg, raise your right leg and stomp it. If it’s given on the right leg, raise the left and stomp it.
Here’s how your foot should look like in a ‘y’ position. If you have done HORMAT SENJA-TA before, this is the same position your feet will be in (but it is unlikely that you will learn UDI drills before FD Gold, unless your unit has lots of guns and they can teach you all gun drills before UDI).
Conclusion
This drill may take some getting used to, and this is arguably the drill that is the “newest” to you amongst all the other FD Gold drills. Good luck!
