Introduction

This command allows you to look to the left/right/front during marching. It’s typically used in a parade, where during the march-past, you do this to look at the Guest of Honour as a sign of respect. You typically look to the right, but looking to the left is really almost the same, the only difference is which way you tilt your head (left or right).

I’ll split the command in two - one for looking to the left or right, and one for looking front again.

PANDANG KE KIRI/KANAN, PANDANG

This command means ‘eyes left/right’ in English, and the timing is check-up. The command is given on the left foot while marching. You then take one step with your right leg on check, and you tilt your head to look in the specified direction (left or right) on up, on your left leg.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Stop timing aloud when looking to the left or right. Instead, time in your head. Only continue timing after PANDANG KE HADAPAN, PANDANG (in the next section).

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The right-most column does not look up. This is so that the other cadets can align themselves to these cadets. The right-most column is the column of cadets closest to the Guest of Honour.

However, in some special cases, the right-most column also turns their heads, only the right marker does not turn their head. This happened when I was in the NCDCC HQ Parade. You should follow your instructions if it differs from my guide.

PANDANG KE HADAPAN, PANDANG

This command is to make you look from the left/right to the front. The timing is check-down. This command is given on the left leg. On check, you take one step with your right leg, and on down, you move your tilt your head back to facing forward, on your left leg.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: You continue timing as per normal, on the next left leg forward.

Conclusion

This command is not too difficult, and its execution is fairly basic. With a bit of practice, this command will be no problem. Good luck!
